(or “eyelid tuck”) Most commonly performed on the upper
lids, this surgery removes excess skin and possibly protruding fat to recontour
the lid. We perform eyelid surgery using local anesthetics and some medication
to help the patient relax; we thus avoid the risks associated with general
anesthesia. As a relaxing medication has been given and the eyelids can be
swollen following the surgery, the patient is required to have someone drive
him or her home. The incision heals in about 5 days and the sutures dissolve.
Patients considering this procedure should expect some degree of bruising and
swelling that may be noticeable for a week or so.
